#Codename Salamander

I'm busy right now writing my next novel in the new series Operation Stargate. So far, the title is 'Outpost Savanna'. It is not a continuation of #Codename Salamander, but the events take place around the same time.

The Characters are new and the book stands on its own. The background is the universe I created in Outpost Epsilon, which continued with the trilogy 'Lizard World', and, of course, with Codename Salamander. Actually, the complete series is called 'The Spider Wars'.

Savanna is a planet almost identical to Earth, but it is far away from the regular trade routes and close to Spider-occupied space. The Solar Union doesn't have much interest in Savanna for that reason, but the Trading Commission, a powerful Cartel, is interested in the precious stones and minerals that are plentiful on Savanna. The Solar Union's military powers set up an outpost requested by the Trading Commission, but instead of sending regular Troopers they send all the misfits to Outpost Savanna.
There are human colonists on Savanna and they are trying to live in peace with the indigenous population, with is not always easy.

So far, I've written about 11.000 words and things are beginning to take shape and new ideas are coming as I write the story. I have sort of a skeleton outline, but, as usual, the characters are going their own way and I let them. I have created a long list of characters, some of them may never appear in the story, but this way I don't have to spend much time thinking of new characters as I write.

In the meantime, I'd be happy if readers  would buy my other books in the series to wet their appetite and make them hunger for more books in the Series 'The Spider Wars'.

Codename Salamander is the first book in a new Science Fiction series I started. Operation Stargate is a sub-series in the ‘umbrella series’ The Spider Wars.

It all started with #Outpost Epsilon. I always wanted to write a story about an outpost on an alien planet. I’ve always liked dinosaur and I decided to populate this new planet with dinosaurs. That’s how Outpost Epsilon was born. I liked the premise so much and wrote another story about 15 years in the future of that first story. It became too long to be published as an eBook, so I made it into a trilogy, featuring three different characters.

One of the characters, Terrex Stonewall, a Scout with the Solar Union, fascinated me, so I brought him back in Codename Salamander, but he is not the main character in that story, even though he does play an important role.

If you want to find out more buy the book. In fact, start with Outpost Epsilon. You may also fall in love with that universe and the variety of alien species in it.

Right now, I’m working on another novel in that same universe I created with Outpost Epsilon. The working title is ‘Outpost Savanna’, but that may change when I’m done.

Even though I love Science Fiction, I also love Thrillers and detective stories. I also love Westerns. Perhaps some day I will take a crack at writing a Western. Perhaps. There are so many stories I still would love to write, but I only have so much time. I hope I live long enough to write at least a few of them.

Christmas is behind us and we're already a month into the new year. Hard to believe. Two of my books have been accepted by my publisher Melange Books. One is a detective story 'A Matter of Justice', a book I wrote a few years ago. I did some re-writing and more editing and it turned out quite nice. It has a lot of humor in it, but there are also sombre moments and plenty of action.

The other book is a Sword and Sorcery/Shape Shifter/Romance novel 'Clouds over Maridaan' featuring Rhodar, a barbarian from the Western Plains in a fictitious world where magic works and pretty maidens need to be rescued. Where evil sorcerers threaten a whole country. I also put in some erotic scenes just to spice it up a little.

#Codename Salamander released

Finally, the day has arrived. My new novel Codename Salamander has been published. It’s been a long wait and much work but worth it. I love the cover. This is the first book in a new series ‘Operation Stargate’, which is part of a much larger series: #The Spider Wars. It all began with Outpost Epsilon. When I wrote that book, I had no idea it would expand into a series.

Creating a fictional universe is a slow process. For me anyway. It begins with the first paragraph of a new novel and grows and swells and becomes more real as the story develops. In the course of writing I create more characters, different alien races, backgrounds of the characters and of the places like planets and planetary systems. I need to create and develop different nations and societies with their unique laws and customs.

Every character in the story has his/her own background and story to tell. Most of it usually stays untold unless it is important to the main story, but it has to be created. Every time a new character appears, I create a short background which fleshes out as the story moves along. I will write down things like age, physical attributes, education, job, parents, siblings and stuff like that. I may use none of this information, but it is there if I need it.

Once the story is finished, I have a whole world populated with a host of characters, aliens, and different societies. It took work to do this and it would be a shame if I didn’t use this universe I created for more adventures. That’s how a series is born. The next book will be much easier to write, because I already have so much information at my fingertips. The file of this information gets larger with every book I write in that new series.

Will there be a second book in Operation Stargate? I don’t know. It is a good possibility. I could also write another book in the other subseries of The Spider Wars: Lizard World. It consists of 3 books and there is plenty of opportunity to write more books in that series. One advantage with writing any of those future books: They all happen in the Universe I created with Outpost Epsilon.
